San Diego officials released guidelines for arts and culture project funding Tuesday, opening applications for anyone interested in applying.

Two programs are accepting applications: the Operational Support Program and Creative Communities San Diego. The OSP provides funding for nonprofit arts and culture-focused organizations, while the CCSD funds project-based initiatives.

“We are thrilled to open the annual application cycle for our arts and culture funding,” said Jonathon Glus, director of the Department of Cultural Affairs. “The Operational Support Program and Creative Communities San Diego are essential to advancing San Diego’s creative economy. Through these investments, we continue to expand access to the arts and ensure that our cultural sector remains vibrant and inclusive.”

Funding for the programs comes through the city’s Transient Occupancy Tax, collected from those staying in the city’s hotels and short term vacation rentals.

“These funding opportunities are about more than just financial support,” said Christine Jones, chief of Civic Art Strategies. “They empower artists, cultural practitioners, and organizations working in San Diego’s dynamic and diverse communities through a wide range of activities and projects.”

“From art exhibitions to musical performances, theatrical productions and festivals, these initiatives enrich local culture and amplify San Diego’s creative presence on national and international levels,” she added.

Organizations interested in applying can visit the OSP website here and CCSD website for free online resources and assistance.

The deadline for applications is Monday, Nov. 25 at 8 a.m.
