Francesca Grace X Rubin Studio in Los Feliz, $3M
Set on the edge of a canyon in the Oaks neighborhood of Los Feliz sits a three story, Mid-century home with views of Downtown that was recently rescued by Ruby and Mike Rubin of Rubin Studio Design. Partially demolished in a previous and failed renovation, the Rubins completely transformed it into a warmly sympathetic retreat, deploying materials like cork and cement tiles, deeply saturated paint finishes plus a variety of patinated metals to complement teak and white oak woods, along with an exquisite collection of natural honed stone elements. The Rubins brought in realtors (and sisters) Claire and Sam O’Connor of O’Connor Estates who then tapped designer/stager/retailer Francesca Grace and Somme to infuse the property with a welcoming but eclectic story line as a warm and creative sanctuary.

As part of their comprehensive overhaul of a project gone astray, the Rubins re-clad the exterior in cedar planks, intentionally reminiscent of Sea Ranch, the Northern California community on the shores of the Pacific.

The lower level features a lounge, one of the sybaritic bedroom suites and extraordinary stone work in the baths.

See it for yourself—5698 Holly Oaks Drive is open on Sunday, August 10 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm—or go to the listing for additional images and details. An exceptional property brought to fruition by an exceptional team, represented by Claire and Sam O’Connor of O’Connor Estates.
