San Diego Arab Film Fest Opens with Two Weekends of Screenings Set for MOPA


The San Diego Arab Film Festival opens Friday with in-person presentations of feature-length and short films at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park.
Screenings continue for two days this weekend, then resume April 19 through April 21.
The schedule includes:
- Friday – I Am from Palestine, a short about a Palestinian-American girl on her first day of school who is faced with a world map that does not include her homeland.
- Saturday – That Seven Days, a Palestinian bride reviews her memories of the joys and sorrows of the momentous as her wedding neared.
- April 19 – Fez Summer ’55, a young boy of the Medina of Fez experiences the last months before Morocco’s independence.
- April 20 – Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano, after the catastrophic explosion at the port of Beirut leaves a large part of the capital in ruins, a troubled film crew faces an overwhelming decision.
- April 21 – Lyd, a feature-length, sci-fi documentary shares multiple pasts, presents, and futures of the city of Lyd in Palestine.

Tickets for individual screenings cost $15 (discounted to $12 for students), with three-ticket packages set at $40 and full passes for eight screenings, at $80. Dinners will be available each evening for $15.
