San Diego Moms: Artist and Mom to Showcase Heart, Soul at Carlsbad ArtWalk

Lys Solimine recalls winning her first art piece at just two years old. Now, a mother to a toddler herself – she is excited to showcase her work at ArtWalk Carlsbad. 

Solimine, a local mother, said she always loved artwork. In college, she studied interior design before rediscovering her love for painting. She joined a master class in oil painting Milan Art Institute and her career blossomed from there. 

“My most meaningful work is my Dare to Bloom series, which I will have on display at the ArtWalk,” Solimine said. “I poured my heart and soul into these paintings. They feel like pieces that have been waiting to be painted my entire life. Every time I would finish another piece in this series, I felt like I was releasing my past limiting beliefs and moving toward my true self.”

Featuring her work at the annual event for the first time, Solimine said she hopes guests will be inspired by her paintings. 

“I hope that my artwork speaks to the ArtWalk attendees by encouraging them to believe in themselves, in whatever capacity they might need in the moment,” Solimine said. “My hope is that the people who buy and collect my artwork do so because it reminds them of something meaningful to them every time they see it in their home.”

Inspired by her son whose energy and emotions are showcased in her work, Solimine said she is currently working on a new series that focuses more on the heart.

“I cannot wait to share my artwork with my local community,” Solimine said. “I am excited to connect with ArtWalk attendees and hopefully help my paintings find their forever homes.”

ArtWalk Carlsbad will take place this weekend above the Flower Fields. More than 150 artists from the U.S. and Mexico will showcase and sell their artwork during the weekend-long festival.

The free event will run from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
