Birch Aquarium Celebrates Little Blue Penguins’ First Anniversary

Birch Aquarium at Scripps this week celebrated the first anniversary of the Beyster Family Little Blue Penguins exhibit with a pool party complete with bubbles, fish “cakes” and beach balls.
The exhibit, which opened on July 12, 2022, was the biggest addition to Birch Aquarium in 30 years, allowing visitors to see the world’s smallest penguins measuring at less than 12 inches tall and weighing just two to three pounds.
Birch Aquarium is the only aquarium in the Western U.S. to house these blue penguins.
Here are photos from the celebration.
