San Diego Restaurant Week returns Sept. 14–21, making it the perfect opportunity to explore a new culinary hot spot or revisit a favorite eatery, all at a great price. With more than 100 participating restaurants across 30 neighborhoods, diners are spoiled for choice.

Here’s our guide to navigating the event:

How does San Diego Restaurant Week work?

This biannual celebration unites the region’s top chefs and restaurants to showcase the best of San Diego’s dining scene. For eight days, participating restaurants serve specially curated multicourse menus at set prices: lunch starting at $30 and dinner starting at $45. The prix fixe format makes it easy to try the restaurant’s signature dishes at a great value, with no ticket required.

“Each neighborhood in San Diego is a destination of its own, and the best way to experience them is through their food,” said Joanna Pearce, the California Restaurant Association’s San Diego chapter manager. “San Diego Restaurant Week is your culinary passport to explore all the flavors of America’s finest city.”

Which restaurants are participating?

With more than 100 restaurants countywide, there’s something for every craving. Expect high-end steakhouses downtown, coastal gems in La Jolla and the beach cities, neighborhood favorites in East County and trendy spots uptown.

How do I book a table?

Reservations during Restaurant Week are strongly recommended, as prime-time slots will fill up quickly. Use the San Diego Restaurant Week website’s search filters to sort by cuisine, neighborhood or price point and book tables for lunch and dinner directly with the restaurant. Pro tip: Some of the best values are found on lunch menus.

Anything else I need to know?

Think of Restaurant Week as the perfect excuse to explore new flavors and new neighborhoods. Pair dinner in Little Italy with a stroll along the waterfront, enjoy lunch in Del Mar after a beach day or head uptown to discover indie shops and galleries before drinks and dinner in North Park.

It’s also the ideal time to branch out. Curious about seafood, craft pasta or Asian fusion? Restaurant Week lets you try something new at a fraction of the usual cost. And if you discover a new favorite spot, you can thank us later.
